At-Home Abortion Information

Get the answers you need on self-managed at home abortions.

At-Home Abortion & Your Options in Texas

Questions about abortion laws, rights, and your options? While abortion is illegal in Texas, we can provide you with the information you need to make a safe and informed decision about abortion, pregnancy, and your reproductive health.

If you are considering a self-managed abortion at home, your best first step is an ultrasound to verify an existing, viable pregnancy. This crucial step will confirm the location of the pregnancy. Abortion pills cannot be taken if the pregnancy is ectopic, a pregnancy that occurs outside the uterus, and immediate medical care is needed. It is not illegal to treat an ectopic pregnancy.

More importantly, an ultrasound can also tell you how far along you are, providing you with the necessary information to make an informed decision. This is a key part of our commitment to your safety and well-being.

Book a cost-free consultation and ultrasound appointment. No insurance is needed, and same-day appointments are often available. Our consultations are designed to provide you with the information and support you need in a safe and caring environment.

At Home Abortion Side Effects

After both doses of medication have been taken you can expect bleeding and cramping to start between one and four hours after taking the second pill.

Other side effects and risks of a medical abortion include but are not limited to:

  • Heavy bleeding (you fill more than a pad an hour)

  • Abdominal pain

  • Infection

  • Fever or chills

  • Feeling dizzy or lightheaded

  • Nausea, diarrhea and vomiting

  • Allergic reactions to medications

  • Incomplete abortion

Before an abortion, it’s important to talk to a medical professional about your health history and what to do in the event of an allergic reactions to the medication which can be fatal. In states that have been measuring the side-effects, reported complications from the abortion pill have increased in the past several years.

If you have only taken the first dose of the abortion pill and change your mind, it is still your choice. Contact us immediately or if it’s after hours, learn more about how to continue your pregnancy

Abortion Pills By Mail

The abortion pill comes with a black box label, which is the highest level of caution assigned by the FDA. Taking the abortion pill without seeing a doctor or having an ultrasound is never recommended. The side effects range from unpleasant (cramping, bleeding, nausea, headache, fever) to life-threatening (sepsis, rupturing of the uterus, undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy, and more). Due to lack of regulations and unsafe medications, the FDA also issued a warning not to order pills by mail

We put you and your safety first and we'd never recommend an unsafe option.

However, if you’ve already ordered pills, we can still provide you with an ultrasound to confirm how far along you are. This information can determine how many pills that are required to complete an abortion.
